Kenneth Wayne Gahimer, 65, of Manilla, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014, at his residence.
He was born June 9, 1948, in Rush County, the son of Norman K. and Rosemary Christina (Thomas) Gahimer.
Kenny is survived by his father, Norman K. Gahimer and wife Hilda of Franklin; son, Gary Gahimer of Shelbyville; daughters, Christina Smothers and husband Rick, and Jennifer Wainscott and husband Chris, both of Manilla; brothers, Norm T. Gahimer and wife Kathy, and Jerry L. Gahimer and wife Kim, both of Shelbyville, and Phil L. Gahimer and wife Doretta of Manilla; sister, Karen Williams and husband Garrick of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Kerigan Dawn Smothers, Caymen Asher Smothers, Sophia Rosemarie Wainscott, Sean Matthew Wainscott, Henry Alexandrew Wainscott and Edith Ann Wainscott; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; brother, Jeffrey Allen Gahimer; and twin grandsons, Camden Alexander Smothers and Cayden Andrew Smothers.
Kenny graduated from Manilla High School in 1966.
He was a member of Grace Wesleyan Church in Shelbyville.
Kenny was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam.
He retired from Sears Automotive Center in 2008, with over 40 years of service.
Kenny loved the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
He enjoyed the Smoky Mountains.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Grace Wesleyan Church,
56 E. Franklin St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 1
1 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Dr. John D. Hundley officiating. Interment will be at Zion Cemetery in Shelby County.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Wesleyan Church, in care of the funeral home.
