Bert Willingham, 76, died Feb. 17, 2014. She was a former resident of Greenwood.
She was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Indianapolis. She captivated people with her “briteyes” from day one.
Bert was a lover of life, God and her family. She was hardworking, a loyal friend and a constant positive presence in every life that she touched. Those who knew her would call her a fighter and a survivor, but above all her faith carried her through.
She battled COPD, emphysema and lung disease since 1987 and since then had resided in Florida, where she continued to live with faith and a spirit to accomplish many wonderful things.
She was preceded in death by a son, Edward, and is survived by four children, Terry Leiter, Kitty (Tony) Paich, Doug (Geri) Kelley and Lesley Smith; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Elloise Berkey, and a brother, Joe (Iva) Pennycuff.
A memorial service will be conducted at noon April 5 at Plymouth Church of Christ, 9301 N. Sheldon Road, Plymouth, MI 48170. Luncheon meal to follow.
In lieu of flowers, cards and monetary donations can be made to the family and/or made to (ACS) Relay for Life or to the Humane Society of the United States.
