Valerie Logan Taylor

Valerie Anne (Hawkins) Logan Taylor, 92, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014, in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.

She was born on Oct. 18, 1921, in Bennett’s Switch (Miami County), to William and Donna (Daniels) Hawkins.

She was married to Ernest D. Logan in 1940. He preceded her in passing in 1978. She later married Roscoe Taylor in 1970. He preceded her in passing in 1999.

Valerie is survived by five children, Dean Kent (Ginny) Logan, Jerry Wayne (Tonda) Logan, Joyce (Gary) Gonzenbach, Bonnie (Jim Reed) Estell and Nancy E. (John) Brown; three stepsons, John Taylor, Bob Taylor and Calvin Taylor; 19 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving   is one sister, Donna Riley of Florida.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, and two brothers, John Hawkins and Walter Hawkins.

She was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis.

Valerie was employed by Hoosier Tarpaulin, retiring in 1971.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Franklin; Franklin Chapter, Order of Eastern Star No. 439; and the Franklin Active Adult Center.

Valerie enjoyed sewing, quilting and playing euchre and bridge.

Mary Alice Mulligan will conduct a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St., (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Masonic Home Foundation Inc., P.O. Box 44210, 525 N. Illinois St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46244-0210.
