Jack Douglas Miller
Jack Douglas Miller, of Franklin, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.
He was born Aug. 25, 1929, in Rock Bridge, Ky.
He is survived by his wife, Mary “Sue” Miller; his children, Beverly (Dan) Gibson, Cheryl McCloud, and Mike (Kim) Miller. Other survivors include grandchildren, Steve Combs, Eric Gibson, Nicole Combs, Keith Gibson, Tiffany Miller, Brittany Miller, Sarah McCloud and Chris McCloud; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, George Miller, David Miller and Roger Miller; and two sisters, Juanita Meredith and Sue Perkins.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, Doc and Marie (Isenberg) Miller; one brother, Jim Tom Miller; and one sister, Alicia Bowman.
He attended schools in Kentucky.
Jack received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Indianapolis and his master’s degree from Indiana University in Bloomington.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
He was a teacher at Clinton Young Elementary School in Perry Township for 40 years, retiring in 1993.
Jack was a member of First Baptist Church in Franklin, where he served on various boards and as deacon and Sunday school teacher. Jack was a member of the Kiwanis. He so enjoyed spending time with his family.
The Rev. Homer Ford will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, where military honors will be conducted by the Franklin American Legion Post No. 205 and the U.S. Army.
