Elsie Pearl Mathis
Elsie Pearl Mathis, 78, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
She was a resident of Edinburgh.
She was born Feb. 4, 1936, in Edinburgh to the late Charles E. Ferguson and Lena Marie (Stout) Ferguson.
She was married to Harry A. Mathis for 46 years. He survives.
She also is survived by two brothers, David A. Ferguson of Edinburgh and Richard (Nancy) Ferguson of Columbus; a nephew, 2nd Lt. Aaron (Lindsay) Ferguson; and a niece, Heather Ferguson.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie and Louis Ferguson; and a sister, Peggy J. Ferguson.
She was a homemaker.
She was known as the “Angel Lady.” Elsie Pearl began crocheting multicolored angels nearly 30 years ago. She gave them away to friends and strangers. She also gave hundreds of angels to soldiers and their families.
A graveside service will be conducted at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.
