Eric Joshua ‘Josh’ Swift
Eric Joshua “Josh” Swift, 39, of Edinburgh, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 27, 1974, in Muncie, the son of Russell and Fay (Butcher) Swift. He married Rachel Ingle on June 10, 1995; and she survives.
Other survivors include his parents of Shelbyville; two children, Ethan and Piper Swift, both of Edinburgh; two brothers, Jason Swift and wife, Shelley, of Indianapolis and Doug Swift and wife, Jenn, of Shelbyville; maternal grandfather, R. D. Butcher of Shelbyville; paternal grandfather, Francis Swift of Edinburgh; mother-in-law, Jo Lister of Edinburgh; father-in-law, Sam Ingle and wife, Debbie, of Greenwood; and several nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Fay (Phifer) Butcher; and paternal grandmother, Carol (Moore) Swift.
Josh was a lifelong resident of Shelby County.
He graduated from Southwestern High School in 1993.
Josh was a member of Mount Auburn Christian Church and American Legion Post No. 233.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Josh worked as a production supervisor at Sacoma in Edinburgh.
He loved spending time with his family and coaching his children in many athletic events.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Mount Auburn Christian Church, 5878 W. County Road 900S, Edinburgh, with Pastor Brian Scott officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, and from 1:30 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Shelby County.
