J. Martin Jones
J. Martin Jones, 88, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014.
The son of Tompie and Ruth Martin Jones, he was born Dec. 23, 1925, in Fountain Run, Ky.
Martin was a salesman with Wills Furniture and Appliance, worked as an independent photographer and was a professional square dance caller. Martin served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart.
Martin is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dodie of Franklin; two sons, Martin A. (Salley) Jones of Franklin and Larry R. (Debbie) Jones of Indianapolis; three daughters, Linda K. (Robert) Camden and Barbara A. (Tom) Allington, both of Indianapolis, and Janet C. (Marty) Sadler of Lafayette; two sisters, Doris Crafton of Bargersville and Sandra Estep of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Martin was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Jones.
A funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, where friends may call from 10 a.m until service time. Entombment will be Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or to Riley Children’s Foundation.
