Helen Jeanette ‘Nana Jeffie’ Richardson
Helen Jeanette “Nana Jeffie” (Whetstine) Richardson, 78, passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.
Jeanette was born Nov. 24, 1935, in Nineveh. She attended Nineveh High School.
She was a homemaker and caregiver. Everybody knew her as “Nana Jeffie” in Franklin.
She enjoyed cooking, living in the country and watching sunrises and sunsets. She loved to laugh and have friends and family at her house. She had a big heart.
She was active with the American Indian Movement and Council.
She is survived by her three children, Doug (Barbara) Whet-stine and Scarlett Whetstine Whiteis, both of Franklin, and Nick (Jennifer) Whetstine of Morgantown; three sisters, Annie McCormick of Florida, and Donna Eldridge and Joyce Sauer, both of Franklin; two brothers, Bill (Dorothy) Richardson of Massachusetts and Grover Hamilton of Carmel; 10 grandchildren, Julie Ford, Jeremy Whet-stine, Trevor Guinnup, Levi Guinnup, Carena Mitchell, Jason Whetstine, Heath Whetstine, Matthew Whetstine, Nicole Fox and Sophia Morgan; and
She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis B. Richardson; her mother, Hesper (Hogan) Hamilton; a brother, Jimmy Richardson; four sisters, Mary Rund, Lois Cody Adams, Katherine Gaither and Diane Freese; and two grandchildren, Angel Wilborn and Joshua Mitchell.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel, 197 E. Jefferson St. Friends and family may call from 2 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
