Aubrey C. Meador Jr.
Aubrey C. Meador Jr., 75, of Franklin, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, after battling prostate cancer for 11 years.
He was born May 15, 1938, in Scottsville, Ky., to Aubrey C. Meador Sr. and Willodyne (Meador) Meador.
He married Betty L. (Morgan) Meador on June 7, 1957, in Franklin. She lovingly survives.
He was a systems technician for Indiana Bell, later known as Ameritech, for 31 years, retiring in 1994.
He previously was an agent for Farm Bureau Insurance in Franklin and owned and operated the Gulf service station in Whiteland. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, an Air Force Reserve veteran and a U.S. Army Reserves veteran.
He was a 1956 graduate of Whiteland High School. He attended First Christian Church of Morgantown.
He enjoyed attending farm sales, auctions and flea markets and collecting various items. He enjoyed vacationing in Mississippi, spending time with his family and friends, and helping and giving of himself to others.
He was greatly known for his sense of humor and generosity. He will be sadly missed. He was active in Relay for Life in Johnson County.
Survivors include his wife, Betty L. (Morgan) Meador of Franklin; a son, Steve J. Meador (Gail) of Morgantown; one granddaughter, Lindsay Meador of Indianapolis; four great-grandchildren, Dante, Jaekwon, Delin and Lexi; a brother, Wendell (Vicki) Meador of Trafalgar; two sisters, Becky L. (Steve) Navarro and Grace (Mike) Boston, both of Franklin; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Julie M. Meador, on Feb. 3, 1978; two sisters, Nancy Eldridge and Sadie Stephens; one brother, Jerry Meador; and a nephew, Wade Meador.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial with military honors will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
