Rita Sue Merrick, 71, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014.
She was born on Jan. 5, 1943, in Indianapolis to Elzie Ralph and Ruth Adeline (Brown) Luthe.
Rita was a self-employed hair stylist for many years, retiring in 2002, and was a beauty control consultant. She loved to travel and was an active member of The Mustang Club of Indianapolis. She had many friends and was loved by all who knew her. Rita was a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church and attended functions at several other churches.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Traci Hodges (Chris); son, Michael Merrick (Kimberly); grandchildren, Jake (Mallory), Craig (Lindsey), Evan, Marcus, and Lindsey; four great grandsons; sister, Rosie Scharbrough; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; and cousins, Pat Whitlow and Bill Luthe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings and grandaughter, Kaylie.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Christian Church, 381 N. Bluff Road, Greenwood.
Arrangements have been entrusted to G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 South State Road 135 and Olive Branch Road.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
