Stanley Kenneth Hardin
Stanley Kenneth Hardin, 80, lifelong resident of Franklin, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.
He was born April 21, 1933, in Bartholomew County to Alvin L. and Esther Mae (Baute) Hardin.
He married Evelyn (Green) Hardin on Sept. 4, 1955, at First Baptist Church in Franklin; she survives.
Stanley was a 1951 graduate of Franklin High School and attended the agriculture short course at Purdue University in 1952.
He was a farmer until 1961. He then worked for Bob’s Super Service in Greenwood until his retirement in 1998. He had been a funeral service associate for Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Franklin for six years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Franklin, where he had served as trustee and was part of the ushering ministry.
Stanley was a member of the Franklin Kiwanis Club, where he had served as president and was very active in all aspects of the club, the Johnson County Farm Bureau, and was involved in various 4-H and FFA programs.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn (Green) Hardin of Franklin; a son, Ronald Lee Hardin of Franklin; two grandchildren, Jason (Montana) Hardin of Indianapolis and Sarah (Chris) Hardin Ferguson of Indianapolis; three great-grandchildren, Rianna Nicole Ferguson, June Lynn Ferguson and Natalie J. Ferguson; a sister, Margaret J. Dillman, and brother-in-law Wayne Dillman of Martinsville; brother-in-law Harry Westcott and sister-in-law Ruth Westcott of Franklin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Tom Henninger of Franklin; sister-in-law Pauline Clem of Morgantown; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Kenneth Hardin, on May 6, 2013; and brothers-in-law George Clem and George Green.
The Revs. Homer Ford and Mark Hetrick will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., Franklin, IN 46131.
