Michael Griffin 57, of Franklin, went away to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014.
He was born Jan. 14, 1957, in Milan.
Mike is survived by his wife, Bobbi; children, Heather (George) Lari, Bobby (Myndee) Griffin and Scott (Tonia) Griffin; grandchildren, Kyle, Kayla, Brandon, Brayden, Parker and MJ; and great-granddaughter, Maicie. Mike is also survived by his sister Debbie (Charlie) McNear and will be loved and missed by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, Bob and Mary; and his brothers, Guy and Bill.
Mike was an active member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, a devoted family man and an avid outdoorsman. He worked for many years as an automotive mechanic as well as a tool and die maker at PK USA for 23 years. Mike enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. His biggest passion was hunting, which earned him the nickname “Elmer Fudd.” Turkey hunting was his passion in which he held multiple records with The National Wild Turkey Federation. He was featured in Indiana Game and Fish magazine for obtaining the second largest turkey out of Indiana in 2002 as well as the eleventh all-time bird.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 7925 Huff St., Acton. Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Stirling-Gerber Chapel, 5950 E. Thompson Road, Indianapolis.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Francis Hospice Home Foundation.
