Jimmy Dale Whitaker
Jimmy Dale Whitaker, 77, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014.
He was born April 17, 1936, in Greenwood, a son of the late Raymond and Lucile (Parkhust) Whitaker.
Survivors include his loving wife, Bette; two daughters, Michele (Lee) Lackey and Melinda Whitaker, both of Greenwood; his brother, Raymond “Sonny” (Marilyn) Whitaker of Trafalgar; a sister, Patricia Bundy of Greenwood; four grandchildren, John “J.D.” (Corrin) Roach, Jeffrey Roach, Justin Lackey and Will Likens; and dear friends, John and Cindy Price.
Jimmy served our country in the U.S. Air Force.
He retired from Navistar (International Harvester) as a traffic coordinator after 44 years of service.
Jimmy was a member of Greenwood Christian Church. He belonged to Greenwood Masonic Lodge No. 514 F&AM, Order of the Eastern Star No. 390, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite and the Murat Shrine.
Jimmy enjoyed square dancing, watching his grandsons play sports and camping.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. Dennis Martin will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60707.
