Clifford Thomas Beaty

Clifford Thomas “Cliff” Beaty, beloved husband of Mildred Bailey Beaty, departed this life on Feb. 3, 2014, at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 10 days. He was a resident of Belknap, Ky., and a former resident of Franklin, Ind.

He was a son of the late Elzy and Marie Douglas Beaty, born in Adair County, Kentucky, on Sept. 24, 1944. Cliff and Mildred were married on Sept. 4, 1970.

Cliff was a Vietnam War-era veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served as a corporal from 1965 to 1967.

He was also an Army reservist for eight years. Cliff and Mildred lived in Franklin where Cliff worked as a carpenter, truck driver and for the Greenwood Community School Corp., until retiring in August 2010 and moving to Belknap, Ky.

He enjoyed gardening, traveling, yard mowing, watching NASCAR and spending time with his family.

Cliff is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mildred Bailey Beaty; two sons, Phillip Beaty (Brenda) and Clifford Michael Beaty (Holli), both of Franklin; one daughter, Phyllis Sewell (David) of Franklin; four brothers, Harold Beaty of Franklin, and Ernie Beaty, Jack Beaty and Leonard Beaty, all of Greenwood; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elzy and Marie Douglas Beaty; two brothers, Arvil Beaty and Johnny Beaty; one sister, Mary Luttrell; one grandchild, Deah Beaty; and one great-grandchild, Braden Westmoreland.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Porter & Son Funeral Directors, 769 E. Main St., Campton, Ky., with Brothers A.B. Patrick and Rick Simpkins officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bailey-Rudd Cemetery in Belknap, Ky. Pallbearers will be Phillip Beaty, Scott Beaty, Buck Bailey, William Watts Jr., Andy Sewell and Eddie Hensley.

Arrangements were entrusted to Porter & Son Funeral Directors in Campton, Ky.
