Otis William Jones, 93, of Franklin, died on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
He was born April 10, 1920, in Edinburgh to the late Virgil T. and Nora (Huber) Jones.
He married Caroline McClain on Aug. 3, 1946, and she survives.
He also is survived by his sons, Jay I. (Kathy) Jones of Mount Sterling, Ky., Bruce A. (Trish) Jones of Franklin and Maynard Jones of Franklin; grandchildren, Gretchen Wood, Jay I. Jones II, Carey Elizabeth Wettlaufer and Clayton Jones; and great-grandchildren, Evan Wood, Spencer Wood, Logan Wettlaufer, Landon Wettlaufer and Carter Jones.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline Coles and Virginia Marsh.
He was a graduate of Edinburgh High School, Class of 1937.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the former First Christian Church in Edinburgh and the Edinburgh American Legion Post 233 and former member of Edinburgh Lion’s Club.
He retired in 1982 from the J.I. Case Co.
He was a former co-owner of Stine and Jones Grocery Store in Edinburgh and formerly farmed in Needham Township.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Franklin American Legion Post No. 205.
