Thomas Ray Nicholas, 96, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis.
Tom was born Oct. 30, 1917, in Raccoon, to Walter R. and Evia A. (Ruark) Nicholas.
He was employed with P R Mallory for 18 years as a corporate model maker.
He was a member of the Nineveh Masonic Lodge No. 317, First Christian Church in Bargersville and former member of the Olive Branch Christian Church.
He was a state champion gymnast in high school, training at the Southside Turner facility.
Tom enjoyed bowling, gardening and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Nicholas; four children, Jeannine (Jerry) Bristow of Bargersville, Sue A. (Don) Linzie, Richard Nicholas and Rhonda (Bob) Bleich, all of Indianapolis; a sister, Madonna Hall of Greenwood; 10 grand children; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Eva M. Nicholas and L. Margaret Nicholas; a daughter, Vickie Lyn Nicholas; and a sister, Gladys Sieves.
A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel, 197 E. Jefferson St. Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
