Max A. Seward
Max A. Seward, 85, of Greenwood, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
He was born Sept. 11, 1928, in Indianapolis, to Percy Lovelace Seward and Elsie “Sami” (Hager) Seward.
He married Norma (Richards) Seward on Oct. 29, 1950, in Indianapolis; and she survives.
He retired as an accounts specialist in 1991 after 45 years of service at Indiana Bell in Indianapolis.
He was a member of the Naval Reserve, Pioneers and Southland Community Church in Greenwood. He enjoyed serving on mission trips with his wife, serving in Spain, Ireland and Alaska.
Survivors include his wife, Norma (Richards) Seward of Greenwood; two sons, Mark D. (Marianne) Seward of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mikel Seward of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Joseph Rembusch of Portland, Ore., Shelby (Mark) Barmes of Indianapolis and Libby Seward of Evansville; and four great-grandchildren, Christopher Oesterling, Clara Oesterling, C.J. Oesterling and Caleb Rembusch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Julia Anne Seward; four brothers, Fred, William, Wilson and James Seward; and four sisters, Mary Ryan, Trudy Fordyce, Hazel Seward and Lois Seward.
The Revs. Kerry Huffman and David Joseph will conduct a celebration of life service at 7 p.m. today at Southland Community Church, 5800 W. Smith Valley Road, Greenwood. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until service time today at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Interact Ministries, with donations designated to David and Marcy Joseph campaign, 31000 E. Kelso Road, Boring, OR 97009.
Swartz Family Church and Chapel — Funeral and Cremation Services in Greenwood is handling arrangements.
