Billie Leona Calvin, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2014.

She was born Aug. 25, 1924, to the late Phillip E. and Inez Buchanan Rech.

Billie was a graduate of Thomas Carr Howe High School in Indianapolis.

She married James Calvin; he preceded her in death April 7, 1998.

Billie was employed with Walker Research for many years and formerly was a member of Sigma Delta Tau sorority.

She loved her dogs, traveling, knitting, music and dancing, bowling and spoiling her cherished grandchildren.

Billie is survived by her daughters, Lynne (Ron) Gish and Jacque (John) Eickman; grandchildren, Lisa (Jeff) Kitchens, Wendy Gish, Julie (Andy) Hernandez and Jennifer (Jason) Booth; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral will at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240; and/or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 510 N. New Jersey St., Indianapolis, IN 46204.
