Maerean (Pittman) Barnes, 80, died Thursday Jan. 16, 2014 in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis.
Maerean was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Mintonville, Ky.
She married Aubra L. Barnes on Oct. 9, 1952, in Jeffersonville. They were married for 54 years.
She enjoyed shopping, bowling, playing cards and singing. She loved being with her family and family activities. She was a member of the Grace Assembly of God Church in Whiteland.
Survivors include five children, Judith E. Meyer and Michael A. Barnes, both of Greenwood, Marsha L. Barnes and Kathy A. Catt, both of Indianapolis
and Steven L. (Becky) Barnes of Franklin; four sisters, Audrey Hare and Margie Stevens, both of Indianapolis, Iva Dean Cox of Kentucky and Betty Stone of Florida; two brothers, Lloyd Cox of Whiteland and Richard Cox of Columbus; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Johnie S. Pittman and mother, Renie Mae (Miller) Pittman Cox; husband, Aubra L. Barnes; infant son, Michael Duane Barnes and a brother, Clay Pittman.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. U.S. 31. Visitation was Sunday.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood.
