Thomas E. Riley
Thomas E. Riley, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014. He was a resident of Indianapolis.
Tom was a native of Indianapolis, born June 30, 1922, to Dewey and Cecelia (Jenkins) Riley. He married Mary Ann (Latham) Riley on July 24, 1959.
His loving wife survives along with two sons, Jim (Kim) and Rob (Brenda) Riley; six grandchildren, Jeremy, Amanda, Danielle, Jordan, Christina and Heather; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Alice (Larry) Phillips; a brother, James Neff; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1942 to 1946. He was in five invasions in the Pacific while aboard the USS Stansbury and USS Grafton.
He served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross and as a volunteer at Bay Pines veterans hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he received several volunteer awards.
Tom enjoyed golfing and reading the Bible.
He retired from Link-Belt Bearing Division/Rexnord Corp. in 1984 after 43½ years of service.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Washington Park North Cemetery in Indianapolis, with Pastor John Abbott officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wheeler Missionary Ministries, in care of the funeral home.
Arrangements are entrusted to Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center.
