Marjorie L. Sutherland Jacobson, 97, passed away in Franklin on Dec. 26, 2013. She was a resident of Greenwood for more than 50 years.

She was born May 7, 1916, in Bismarck, N.D., a daughter of Robert and Mina (Gilchrist) Sutherland.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy J. Sutherland, who resides in Arizona; and her stepson, Clifford Jacobson, who resides in Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Jacobson.

She was a graduate of University of Manitoba, Canada, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1936, a Master of Science degree in 1938 and a Ph.D. in 1942. She was fluent in French and German. She was a statistical consultant. She co-wrote many scientific publications.

There will be no services. Mrs. Jacobson will be laid to rest at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City, Ariz., next to her parents.
