Oscar Ayers Jr., 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga. He was a resident of North Augusta, S.C., and formerly a longtime resident of Brown County.
Survivors include five children, Eva (Steve) Wolford and Becky (Gene) Fallaw, both of North Augusta, S.C., Cheryl (Tom) Hendrickson of Helmsburg, Teresa Ayers of Statesville, N.C., and Byron (Shannon) Ayers of Brown County; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three siblings, Burnell and Don Ayers and Ann Pruitt; and his parents, Arnold and Mertie (Skinner) Ayers.
The Rev. Harold Summers will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Nashville Masonic Lodge will conduct a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Bishop Matthew Semadeni will conduct a committal service following the funeral service Saturday at Mount Zion Cemetery in Nashville, with military rites presented by the Brown County Honor Guard.
