Orville R. Westerman, 92, of Franklin, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2014.
He was born Aug. 24, 1921, in Indianapolis, to the late Harry F. and Susanna B. Rost Westerman. Orville was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School and attended IUPUI.
He married Elsie L. Hause on Jan. 17, 1942, and served his country in the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War II.
Orville was a civil engineer for the Indiana Department of Transportation for 38 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of Linwood Christian Church and Brookside Masonic Lodge No. 720 F&AM, was past master of the Devol Masonic Lodge and past member of Sahara Grotto, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine and American Legion Post No. 264, where he had served as past commander.
Orville is survived by his loving wife of almost 72 years, Elsie L. Westerman; two devoted children, Jean A. (Bob) Coy and Paul L. Westerman; a sister, Margaret E. Piso; two grandchildren, Robert E. (Carrie) Coy Jr. and Michael R. Coy; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial calling will be from noon to the time of the Masonic memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Ransford Chapel at the Indiana Masonic Home, 690 State St., Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Masonic Home, 690 State St., Franklin, IN 46131.
Final care and arrangements have been entrusted to Shirley Brothers Thompson Road Chapel.
