Rogene C. Wolf
Rogene C. Wolf, 87, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014.
She was born March 23, 1926, in Sheboygan, Wis., to the late Fabian and Wilma Sonntag and was a 1944 graduate of North High School.
Rogene was a volunteer nurse’s aide for the American Red Cross at St. Nicholas Hospital in pediatrics. Later, she and her husband co-owned and operated multiple Ben Franklin stores in Indianapolis.
A snowbird, she was an avid bridge player, which included being involved in a Meet and Greet bridge organization in Lakeland, Fla.
She and her husband also enjoyed RV traveling.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Monroy J. Wolf; children, Dianne (Mike) McDowell, Laura (Linda Hoffmann) Phillips, Carol (Leonard) Howard and Lisa (Jonn) Hester; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Rita Ader; and a brother, Ron Sonntag.
She was preceded in death by siblings Ruth Karas, Rosella Ott and Roger Sonntag.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 535 E. Edgewood Ave., Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded, and the interment will take place at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
