Billy Dean Stafford, 78, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, in Columbus. He was a resident of Franklin.
He was born April 1, 1935, in Lafayette, Tenn., to Wilie and Ida (Eden) Stafford.
He married Edna Mae Gentry in 1955. She preceded him in passing on Oct. 26, 1984.
Survivors include his children, Larry Pittman and Patricia Tucker, both of Russell Springs, Ky., and Jeff (Karen) Stafford of Franklin; a brother, William “Bill” (Annie) Stafford of Franklin; a sister, Burnadine Thompson of Michigan; grandchildren, Allison Pittman, Ashley Pittman, Cheryl Patterson, Christy Roberts, Billy Tucker, Kevin Stafford, Keith Stafford and Katie Stafford; and great-grandchildren, Gwyn, Chloe, Gabe, Branson, Lydia, John Paul, Joshua, Jordan, Alexander, Parker, Grace, Becka, Brant, Trista and Tessa.
He was preceded in passing by his parents and four sisters.
He attended school in Tennessee.
He was a U.S. Army veteran from 1955 to 1957.
Billy was employed by Johnson Memorial Hospital in the maintenance department for 42 years, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He enjoyed restoring cars and enjoyed racing.
Pastor Fred Brown will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Monday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
