Martha Louise Reese
Martha Louise (Lyons) Reese, 83, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013. She was a resident of Franklin.
She was born Sept. 12, 1930, in Greenwood to Ralph and Dessie (Ross) Lyons.
She married Willard Leo Reese on March 19, 1947. He preceded her in passing on Jan. 1, 1992.
Martha is survived by five sons, Robert E. (Jan) Reese, Gary Charles (Vicki) Reese, Jim (Cindy) Reese and David (Sara) Reese, all of Franklin, and Skip L. (Susan) Reese of Trafalgar; grandchildren, Robert (Lisa) Reese Jr., Nicole Summers, Lindsey (Mark) Hampton, Ashley (Brian) Gregg, Michael (Katie) Reese, Catie Reese, Trey Reese, Vince Reese, A.J. Reese, Peyton Reese, Trevor Reese and Zach Reese; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband, Leo Reese; two sons, Richard Leo and Michael Wayne Reese; three brothers, Elmer, Robert and Hank Lyons; two sisters, Bernice Botschellar and Esther Murray; and special friend, Robert Magers.
She attended Center Grove and Greenwood schools.
Martha retired after 23 years of service from Franklin Community School Corp., where she worked in the cafeteria at the high school for many years.
Martha was a faithful member of Franklin American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She had received the award of “Woman of the Year” from the State Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. She spent many years participating in the Ladies Auxiliary Christmas Giving, which she truly enjoyed.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North), Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
