Betty Lou Bay
Betty Lou Bay, 75, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013. She was a longtime resident of Franklin.
She was born on Jan. 14, 1938, in Peoria, Ky., to Lester Decker and Rosa (Logsdon) Decker.
She married Clarence Eugene Bay on July 24, 1954. They celebrated 50 years of marriage. He preceded her in passing on March 1, 2011.
Survivors include her children, Jerry (Michele) Bay of Franklin, Michael (Betty) Bay of Franklin, Jeffrey (Laura) Bay of Jacksonville, Fla. and Shari (Paul) Linville of Franklin; grandchildren, Aimee (Eric) Grantham, Keith Bay, Scott Bay, Kevin (Janice) Bay, Steven Linville, Tyson Bay, Chad (Tacey) Bay, Christopher Linville, Courtney Linville and Derrick Bay; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Clarence; and brothers, William “Bill” Decker, George “Don” Decker and Gary Decker.
Betty attended schools in Franklin.
She retired after more than 40 years, working in food service, caring for other people as the food service director at the Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin and later at Kennedy Living Center in Martinsville.
Betty was an avid bowler for many years. She held many offices over the years with the local Franklin Women’s Bowling League as well as attending many tournaments at the national level. She played softball for several years. She loved to play bingo.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hurricane Cemetery north of Franklin.
