Betty J. Hockensmith
Betty J. (Barbour) Hockensmith, 83, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at the Morning Pointe Assisted Living Community in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Indianapolis.
Betty was born July 8, 1930, in Frankfort, Ky., to the late Vernon and Mattie (Poe) Barbour.
She married Clarence “Buddy” Hockensmith Jr. on April 24, 1946 in Lancaster, Ky. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2002.
Betty is survived by two children, Richard (Hazel) Hockensmith of Bangor, Mich., and Regina (Allen) Ford of Trafalgar. She will be remembered by her grandson, Barry (Angela) Ford of Indianapolis; and great-grandchildren, Hunter W. Ford of Bicknell and Megan Cunningham of Shelbyville.
Betty was preceded in death by a grandson, Monty V. Ford; one sister, Virginia Kessler; and three brothers, Dick, Scott and Garland “Sparky” Barbour.
She was a loving wife and homemaker and a member of Thornhill Baptist Church in Frankfort, Ky.
Betty enjoyed cooking, baking and reading and was a fan of the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team.
Betty’s wishes were to be cremated and inurned next to her husband at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, Cremation and Personalization Center in Morgantown.
