Ruth LaVerne Doan

Ruth LaVerne Doan, 86, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, with her family at her side.

She was born to Earl and Lucille (Betts) Richardson on Jan. 28, 1927, in Franklin.

Ruth was a graduate of Trafalgar High School with the class of 1945.

She married Hayes Doan in 1949 and he preceded her in death in October 1967. Ruth was a member of Villa Baptist Church and was a design artist for Ransburg/Cosco for many years.

She enjoyed painting on glass, making afghans and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Sula Cromer of Indianapolis, Donna Spain of Morgantown and Connie (John) Perrin of New Whiteland; brother, Earl “Bud” (Phyllis) Richardson of Waverly; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Catherine Brummett.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, with visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
