Lois J. Sherfield, 82, of New Whiteland passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013.
She was born April 21, 1931, in Westboro, Wis., to the late Archie and Mildred (Streeter) Sherfield.
On Sept. 6, 1950, she married Layton L. Sherfield in Taylor County, Wis. He preceded her in death in 1994. She was a life member of Whiteland VFW Post No. 6978 Auxiliary, a longtime member of American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 252 in Greenwood, and loved playing bingo and cards with friends. She was a bookkeeper for the American Legion Department of Indiana for several years, and retired in 1995.
She is survived by three sons, Dennis (Sharon) Sherfield, David (Sandra) Sherfield and Dean Sherfield.; two daughters, Denise
(Larry) Zwick, and Shari (Kevin) Terry; a brother, John Hebert; a sister, Ann Olah; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Dale Sherfield; a daughter, Sandra Castaneda; two brothers, Donald and Joseph Hebert; and two sisters, Nancy McCrellias and Linda Hebert.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
