Arlis G. Hardwick
Arlis G. Hardwick, 91, of Franklin, passed away Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Morning Pointe in Franklin.
He was born Dec. 12, 1921, in Russell Springs, Ky., to Dock and Pearl (Wilson) Hardwick.
He married Bessie Juanita “Gladys” (Hamby) Hardwick on Dec. 29, 1945, in Georgia; she preceded him in death on April 25, 2001.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having received the Purple Heart while serving in France and Rhineland.
He retired in 1986 as a foreman for Arvin Automotive in Franklin after 37 years of service.
He especially enjoyed gardening, fishing and playing with the bowling league.
Survivors include a son, Daryl (Deborah) Hardwick of Frankfort, Ky.; daughter-in-law, Sue Ellen Hardwick of Franklin; grandchildren, Krissy S. Hardwick of Franklin and Linsey Jayne Hardwick of Frankfort, Ill.; great-grandson, Tully Hardwick-McKee of Franklin; brother, James Hardwick of Lancing, Tenn.; and sisters, Opal Porter and Jackie Will, both of Wartburg, Tenn., and Mary Jane White of Knoxville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Don Hardwick on Jan. 17, 2013; brothers, Orvil Hardwick and Findley Johnson; and sisters, Ella Mae Hardwick and Lennie Mae Johnson.
A service will be conducted at noon Friday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the service time on Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
