Charles D. Kirk, 84, passed away at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at his residence in Martinsville.
He was born Thursday, Aug. 15, 1929, in Martinsville to the late Ernest L. and Nellie Edith (Kepner) Kirk.
Charles served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired in August 1994 from United Technologies, where he was a forklift operator. Before that, he worked construction and was an electrician, a cost accountant and a manager at the Imperial Gas station in Franklin.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Belle (Raney) Kirk, whom he married Oct. 1, 1955; a sister, Dorothy Edwards of Martinsville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and in-laws.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Church of The Nazarene, 1609 John Wooden Drive, Martinsville, with the Rev. Allen Southerland officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church. Burial with military honors will be at Mount Olive Fairview Cemetery in Martinsville.
