Charles Hensley Green
Charles Hensley Green, 87, passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at his residence in Franklin.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1926, in Johnson County to Willard and Ruth (Hensley) Green.
He married Reba Ann (Vandivier) Green on June 16, 1949.
He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Bruce) Thompson and Cynthia Thompson, both of Franklin; two granddaughters, Morgan and Chelsey (fiancé, Jack Albertson); and one great-granddaughter, Riley.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; his wife, Reba; and a daughter, Constance “Connie” Burton.
Charlie was a graduate of Franklin High School and attended Franklin College.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Forces, serving in Germany.
Charlie was employed as a teller at Union Bank and Trust Co. in Franklin and later took over the insurance department at the bank.
In 1979, he started his own insurance company, Charles Green Insurance in Franklin. In 2002, it was merged with Owens Insurance, becoming Green Owens Insurance Agency.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Franklin, Phi Delta Theta fraternity, American Legion Post 205 in Franklin and Franklin Rotary Club. Charlie was the second-oldest surviving member of Elks Lodge No. 1818, member 143.
Charles and Reba’s life centered around family and friends, and they gave many precious memories to all.
The Rev. Peter Jessen will conduct a service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until the service time Friday at the funeral home. A private family burial will be conducted at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
