John Spencer Kenny
Nov. 4, 2013, at his home in Canton, N.Y., surrounded by his family.
John was born Sept. 16, 1937, in Schenectady, N.Y., to K. Eugene and Charlotte (Eikenberry) Kenny.
He graduated from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School and was a captain of its first football team. He graduated from Franklin College in 1960, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He earned a master’s degree from St. Lawrence University.
John worked in admissions at Franklin College, Alfred University, St. Lawrence University and Clarkson University. He was also director of financial aid at St. Lawrence University and worked for three years at New York State Higher Education Services Corp. in Albany, N.Y.
He married Linda (Drake) Kenny on Jan. 26, 1964, in Franklin. She survives, along with a daughter, Amy (Andy) Bluhm of Winnetka, Ill., and a son, Christopher (Rose) Kenny of Dorchester, N.H. He also is survived by three grandsons, Cooper, Emmett and Hudson Bluhm; and two brothers, Joseph Kenny of Indianapolis and Peter Kenny of Newport Beach, Calif.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Dec. 7 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 3½ E. Main St. in Canton, N.Y.
