Madeline G. (Smith) Dodd Hines, 86, of Worthington, passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Glenburn Home in Linton.
Madeline was born March 7, 1927, to Clarence and Juanita (Dayhuff) Smith in Indianapolis. She was raised by her grandparents, Fletcher and Lida Dayhuff in Worthington.
She attended Worthington schools through her junior year and then went on to graduate from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis in 1945. She was employed in several secretarial positions in Indianapolis.
Madeline was a member of Worthington Christian Church. She was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed playing duets with her husband, Warren.
She enjoyed traveling, loved animals and had a wonderful zest for life. She was confined to Glenburn Home for the last 3½ years.
She was predeceased by her parents; first husband, Robert Dodd, who passed away in 1987; and her infant daughter, Deborah Dodd.
She is survived by her husband of almost 15 years, Warren Hines of Worthington; her two sons, Dennis (Dena) Dodd and Dale (Pamela) Dodd, both of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Josh Dodd and Justin Dodd, both of New York City, Brandon Dodd of Franklin and Jennifer Sweazey of Greenwood; two great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Ed (Peggy) Hines of Spencer and David (Peggy) Hines of Terre Haute; four stepgrandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.
She was greatly loved and will be missed by many.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Welch & Cornett
Funeral Home, 23 S. Jefferson St., Worthington, with John Gossett officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Worthington Cemetery.
