Velma Lee Watson
Velma Lee (Edmonds) Watson, 94, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Nov. 6, 2013, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a resident of Trafalgar.
Velma was born March 24, 1919, in Russell Springs, Ky., to the late Addison and Mary Frances (Wilson) Edmonds.
Velma retired in 1987 from the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin, where she had been employed as a housekeeper for 15 years. Before that, Velma worked at the Red Gold Canning Factory in Trafalgar for five years.
Velma enjoyed working in her garden, baking and cooking, and spending time with her family.
She was a member of the Trafalgar War Mothers and faithfully served her Lord for more than 50 years as a member of Trafalgar Christian Church, where she looked forward to singing in the choir.
Velma is survived by one son, George D. (Stacy) Watson of Trafalgar; two grandchildren, Sandy (Nathaniel) Harman and Mindy (David) Bush-Watson, both of Indianapolis; and two great grandchildren, Preston and Cooper Harman, both of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jim Watson; three sisters, Eva Stevens, Opal Zimmerman and Elma Meadles; and two brothers, Herschel and Benjamin Edmonds.
The Rev. Mark Matheny will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at First Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin.
