John G. Barrickman
John G. Barrickman, 84, of Bargersville, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Franciscan St. Francis Health-Indianapolis.
He was born June 25, 1929, in New Castle, to the late Grove and Mabel (Shirk) Barrickman.
He married Donna J. (Ryan) Barrickman on Nov. 7, 1948, in New Castle; and she survives.
He was a 1947 graduate of New Castle High School. He joined the Indiana National Guard in 1949 and served for nine years. He retired from Allison Transmission division of General Motors in 1987 after 37 years of service.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge in New Castle and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Mooresville. He was an associate member of First Christian Church in Bargersville, where he was involved in various ministries and activities of the church.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Donna (Ryan) Barrickman of Bargersville; two sons, David (Cindi) Barrickman of Bargersville and Mark (Kathy) Barrickman of Brandenburg, Ky.; one brother, Larry (Jean Kay) Barrickman of Columbia, S.C.; four grandchildren, Amanda Oaks of Greenwood, Andrea Barrickman of Beech Grove, and Nick Barrickman and Brandi Barrickman, both of Mooresville; and five great-grandchildren, Logan, Jayden, Makylie, Lani and Jordan.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, 101 East St., Bargersville. The Revs. Ken Rickett and Roger Gifford will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle.
Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Franklin is handling arrangements.
