William T. Ryker, 77, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at his residence in Greenwood.
He was born Aug. 13, 1936, in Beech Grove, to Paul B. Ryker and Hazel I. (Martin) Ryker. He married Rosalee “Rosy” (Conover) Ryker on Aug. 31, 1956, at Southport Baptist Church in Indianapolis; she survives.
He was a 1954 graduate of Southport High School. He was a member of Greenwood Christian Church, where he had served as Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher and was a former deacon. He also was an ordained minister and Bible scholar.
He had served as a member of the Civil Air Patrol at the Greenwood Municipal Airport. He enjoyed gardening, airplanes and piloting small aircraft. He retired in 1993 from USAir after 14 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalee “Rosy” (Conover) Ryker of Greenwood; three daughters, Janet G. Burrell (Michael) of Simpsonville, S.C., Jill L. Jackson (Kevin) of Trafalgar and Deborah K. Gold (Bob) of Greenwood; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, James Ryker (Monita) of Noblesville and Robert Ryker (Janet) of Greenwood; a sister, Pamela Galyean (Ken) of Greenwood; and his mother-in-law, Helen Maxine (Rogers) Conover McGee of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Rev. Shan Rutherford will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
