Ruby Joan (Hacker) Grubb, 78, of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born Feb. 22, 1935, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of William Earl and Violet Velma (Peters) Hacker.

Joan was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Bloomington and was affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Bedford.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Joan enjoyed volunteering at her church’s elementary school and at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Kenneth Dale “Kenny” Grubb of Bloomington; a daughter, Tamara McMillan (David) of Bloomington; a son, Aaron Grubb (Robin) of Nineveh; grandchildren, Emily Reuter (James) of Spencer, Alison Ballman (Zoul), Zachary Hays, Joshua Grubb and Amber Richards, all of Bloomington, Cassie Meadows of Trafalgar, Brianna Snyder of Nashville and David McMillan Jr. of Greenwood; great-grandchildren, Maddox, Trayton, Reina, Katarina and Izabella Reuter; two sisters, Lillian Scales of Bloomington and Esther Grubb (Walter) of Stinesville; and one brother, Chester Hacker (Joyce) of Bloomfield.

Other family members include, Dan and Lisa Hays, Mike and Lorrie Huffman and their families. Joan also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and her dog, Princess.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Hacker; an infant sister, Eva Hacker; and a brother-in-law, Hugh Scales.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St., Bloomington, with Michael Huffman officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be at Payne Cemetery in Bloomington.
