Larry L. Vorhies

Larry L. Vorhies, 68, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born in Indianapolis to the late Russell and Elsie Vorhies.

Larry enjoyed flower gardening, genealogy, reading and classic cars. He was an avid Goodwill and garage sale shopper for his collection of old books, records and all things vintage. He also loved vanilla iced coffee from McDonald’s and music.

He was a 1962 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis.

He was a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy. He worked as an FSSA administrator for the state of Indiana and as a security officer for Coca-Cola Bottling.

Larry is survived by his children, Dr. Steven L. (Debra) Vorhies, Jami R. (Mohammed) Vorhies Sayeed and Darci N. (Quinn) Mahoney Vorhies; close friend Brett Pendelton, whom he viewed as a son; grandchildren, Nicholas L. Vorhies, Jacob T. Vorhies, Imani M. Sayeed, Sadella A. Crozier, Clarie E. Vorhies, Levi J. Crozier, Isam Z. Sayeed and Lillian L. Mahoney; sister, Donna J. Vorhies; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by longtime companion Cheryl Butler Vorhies; an infant brother; a brother, Russell Vorhies; and a granddaughter, Sarah.

Funeral services will be at

1 p.m. Saturday at Little & Sons Funeral Home Beech Grove Chapel, 1301 Main St. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
