John J. Meyer, Sr., 92, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013.
He was born June 22, 1921 in Indianapolis to Edward and Adele Meyer. John served in the Navy during World War II.
He worked 34 years having retired from GM Truck and Bus. Family was the most important thing in John’s life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He especially enjoyed spending his summers in the outdoors with his family boating, camping, and working on go-karts.
His wife, Viola Opal “Pat” Meyer, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sons, Robert Edward Meyer, John Joseph Meyer, Jr. (Lynn), Mark Dean Meyer (Irene); sister, Helen Harmon; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Ave., Indianapolis with calling from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
