Mary M. Hopkins
Mary M. Hopkins, 85, of Franklin, passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Franklin.
She was born June 9, 1928, in Indianapolis, to Arthur and Elsie (Myers) Flickinger. She married Byron Hopkins on Oct. 9, 1949, in Indianapolis; and he preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Franklin, where she was involved in the bereavement group. She had been a substitute mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Greenwood and had worked at Adams Corner Grocery Store in White River Township.
Survivors include five children, Patricia Moore of Franklin, Rita Archer and Vicky Bundy (Steve), both of Indianapolis, Linda Justice (Jack) of Plainfield and Thomas Hopkins (Julie) of New Palestine; a brother, James Flickinger (Peggy) of Indianapolis; a sister, Betty Hubner of Indianapolis; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Amelia Hopkins of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Byron Hopkins; a son, Byron “BJ” Hopkins (on July 4, 2004); and a son-in-law, Mike Moore (on Dec. 5, 2003).
The Rev. John Beitans will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial at noon Saturday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 114 Lancelot Drive in Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Franklin is handling arrangements.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 114 Lancelot Drive, Franklin, IN 46131.
