Jerold D. ‘Jerry’ Whitaker

Jerold Daniel “Jerry” Whitaker, 75, passed away Oct. 10, 2013, in Greenwood. He was a resident of Greenwood and a nearly lifelong resident of Johnson County.

Jerry was born May 29, 1938, in Indianapolis. He graduated from Whiteland High School, class of 1958. He attended Milligan College in Tennessee.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Jerry had many vocations centered around sales, insurance, automobiles, RVs, newspapers and bars.

He is survived by his three children, Deena (Mark Clark) Nystrom, J. Tracy (Dawn) Whitaker and Timothy Whitaker, all of Greenwood. He loved his nine grandchildren with all of his heart — Abby, Joel, Quinn, Paige, Luke, Calvin, John, Whitney and Makenzy. He also is survived by a sister, Sylvia O’Kearney of Colorado; two brothers, Kenneth (Helen) Whitaker of Greenwood and Frances (Norma) Whitaker of Whiteland; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daulton and Margaret (Tracy) Whitaker; and two brothers, J. Tracy and Robert Whitaker.

A celebration of life gathering will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Whit’s Inn, 1020 U.S. 31 North, Whiteland.
