Robert J. Woods
Robert J. Woods, 92, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at his home in Franklin.
He was born Jan. 3, 1921 in Rockport. He grew up in the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home in Knightstown. He graduated from Knightstown High School.
He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.
Robert was employed with Allison division of General Motors in Indianapolis as a supervisor for 34 years.
He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed people.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche (Wickliff) Woods of Franklin; three children, Robert Woods Jr. of Fairland, Kathy (Bob) Clem of Greenwood and Christy (Fred) Mackerolt of New York; three stepchildren, Mark (Debbie) Myers of Whiteland, Joe (Martha) Myers of Martinsville and Tom (Ruth) Myers of Greenwood; a sister, Viola Salzmann; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Woods, mother of his children; his parents, Robert J. Jr. and Lenora (Hale) Woods; two brothers; and two sisters.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 677 W. State Road 144, Franklin.
Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel, is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Americare Hospice, 1150 N. Main St., Franklin, IN 46131.
