Barbara DeMunbrun, 82, Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013.
She was born Feb. 1, 1931, in Indianapolis. She was the daughter of Charles and Bessie Powell. Barbara was a member of Southport Heights Christian Church, where she sang with “Sisters in Song.” She enjoyed volunteering as a creative writing teacher with Adult and Child Mental Health Services.
Barbara loved her family very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lowell A. DeMunbrun; her son, Steve DeMunbrun (Tess); her daughters, Patty Sears (Roger), Donna DeMunbrun and Susan DeMunbrun Spearing (Paul); her sisters-in-law, Linda Jessup and Shirley Trusler; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Tracie, Lori, Elisa, Julie, Nathan and Eric; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s (Team DeMunbrun), with envelopes available at the funeral center.

Her love for God, her lessons of compassion, her love of music, her sense of humor, her kindness toward others and her unconditional love will be missed and cherished by all who knew her.
