Fred Harmon, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday,
Sept. 24, 2013.
He was born March 19, 1937, in Indianapolis to the late Earl and Velma (Hammond) Harmon. Fred married Shirley (Weaver) on April 24, 1955, in Indianapolis; and she survives.
Fred was involved in the ice manufacturing business for 51 years. At the age of 18, he began working for National Ice Co. and spent the last 17 years of his career as the owner of Bluegrass Ice Co. in Elizabethtown, Ky.
Other survivors are four daughters, Lora (Tom) Civils of Indianapolis, Melanie (Robert) Purdue of Mooresville, and Tracey (Ron) Wilkins and Angi (Jeb) Dickens, both of Greenwood; three brothers, Charles (Charlene) Harmon and Frank (Jean) Harmon, both of Greenwood, and Richard (Kalynn) Harmon of Franklin; three sisters, Alice (William) Dragoo of Amity, Helen Kissee of Greenwood and Fay (Charlie) Hayes of Shelbyville; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Pamela Harmon; and three sisters, Mary Logsdon, Nancy Ledger and Patty Harmon.
A funeral service will be at
10 a.m. Saturday at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 7602 S. Madison Ave., Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
