Patrick J. Toupin, 49, of Grand Forks, N.D., died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was a former resident of Whiteland.
Patrick James Toupin was born Feb. 10, 1964, the son of Fred and Geraldine (Olson) Toupin. He grew up and attended school in Grand Forks and graduated from Grand Forks Central, class of 1982. He then attended and graduated from Area Vocational Technical Institute in East Grand Forks, Minn.
Pat most recently was employed with Chicago Bridge and Iron as a welder.
His life was built around family and all of his nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed fishing at the Boundary Waters, riding his Harley-Davidson and traveling. Pat had friends everywhere, and he was very much a family man, having maintained close ties with all.
He is survived by his mother, Geraldine Machipiness; his stepfather, Stan Machipiness; his father, Fred Toupin; four sisters, Lana Goethe, Carol Anderson, LaVonne Grosser and Vickie Welker; and five brothers, Larry Goethe, Laurence (Marge) Goethe, Donald (Ruth) Olson, Darryl Olson and Rolland Toupin.
Pat was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Anna Olson and Rolland and Edith Toupin; and a brother, David.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks, N.D. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
