Kenneth E. Mathews, 91, of Greenwood, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2013.
He was born May 23, 1922, in Madison, to the late Stanley E. and Cloris (Beasley) Mathews.
Ken married Betty G. Sullivan on June 28, 1952, in Indianapolis; and she preceded him in death on Jan. 27, 2009.
Survivors include two sisters, Constance “Connie” Everett of Avon and Jane (Gary) Bowen of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Larry (Rita) Mathews of Westerville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by a sister, Ina Marie Baldwin.
His employment included Allison Gas Turbine Division of General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1986 as a test equipment design engineer. Previous employment included U.S. Naval Avionics and Western Electric Co.’s installation division.
Kenny graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and attended Indiana University and the University of Wisconsin. He was a World War II Army Signal Corps veteran, having served in the European theater, where he received two Bronze Stars.
Kenny was a member of Mount Auburn United Methodist Church and Speedway American Legion Post 500. He was a VFW life member and member of Germania 100F Lodge 129 and a past district deputy grand master.
The funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 7602 Madison Ave., Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the mortuary. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
