Donald L. Sandlin
Donald L. Sandlin, 87, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at the Franklin United Methodist Community.
Born Aug. 7, 1926, in St. Petersburg, Fla., he was the son of the late Lynn and Della (Brenneman) Sandlin. On Feb. 5, 1949, he married Mary E. (Woodis) Sandlin in Iuka, Miss. She survives.
He served his country in World War II with the U.S. Navy and with the U.S. Air Force in Korea.
Donald worked at Allison division of General Motors in Indianapolis for 30 years, retiring in 1986.
He had a passion for the ministry and took great pride in teaching the Bible.
Also surviving are a son, Dorian D. (Julie) Sandlin; a daughter, Frieda (Bruce) Dowler; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Franklin United Methodist Community Wright Memorial Chapel, 1070 W. Jefferson St.
