James K. Jones

James K. Jones 70, a lifelong resident of Bargersville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Jan. 1, 1943, in Franklin to the late John Walter Jones and Daisy (Hershberger) Jones. He married Doris J. (Niblock) Jones on April 16, 1995; and she survives. He was a 1962 graduate of Union Township School. He was a truck driver for Oliver Trucking (which became Vanguard Trucking) for more than 35 years and received the million-mile marker in his career. He also farmed with his father, the late John Walter Jones, in the Bargersville area.

He was a member of Bargersville Senior Citizens and a current member of the Bargersville Parks Board.

He enjoyed camping and going to flea markets and auctions.

Survivors include his wife, Doris J. (Niblock) Jones of Bargersville; children, Joyce A. Jones of Whiteland, Kim K. Peters (Larry) of Morgantown, Kenny Kehl (Michelle) of Lafayette, Mike L. Jones (Mary) of Peru, Christina S. Gonzalez-Jones of Las Vegas, Sean R. Jones of Indianapolis and Karen M. Galin (Shane) of Franklin; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, James Brian Jones, on May 2, 1963; and a stepbrother, Wayne Curtis.

The Rev. Fred Brown will conduct a service at 3 p.m. Saturday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery west of Franklin.
